Identity Crisis


Being away from home made me appreciate and miss my culture a lot. I’ve grown up and spent my entire life in Kolkata, the streets of which are full of beautiful type. Most walls marked with hand painted typography for either an ad or a political campaign, these typographic murals are everywhere. For this project i wanted to explore the gorgeous bengali script and explore where i stand with my own culture. The aim was to mix my culture with the western influences I’ve come to absorb.
